30 Day Song Challenge, Day 18

Day 18 – A Song That You Wish You Heard on the Radio

Well look, see yesterday’s post. I don’t listen to the radio. If something I liked was on the radio, and I heard it, I expect it would actually kind of annoy me, because it might be a radio edit, or the presenters might talk over it, plus, it’s all compressed to hell and out of context of the album.

With those caveats in mind, I figured it would maybe be best to pick a song that would maybe exist outside of people’s mainstream expectations, but still be “normal” enough to slip under the radar.

Torche have morphed in recent years from a snarling low-end beast to a fun, easy to enjoy, mostly super-melodic rock band with a ballsy heft to their sound. Everything is thick and warm and slightly fuzzy.

Across the Shields is a song that I think might even pass on mainstream radio. In fact, I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen it used in games and possibly even on TV. If one Torche song had any chance of being on the radio, this would probably be it. Well actually, there’s several on that album.

Anyway, enjoy the fun video, and be envious of the amazing costumes.
