So what’s up, ladies and gentlemen?
Anyway, enough about you. I wanted to talk about some music stuff.
While I was in Canada, I was working on some musical stuff that I wanted to get done before I left, but the practical limitations of what equipment I had with me, and my limited time outside of work made that difficult. So one of my first projects now that I’m back in the UK is to finish up what I was working on, and get it out there into the world.
This involves quite a lot of setup work. I need to get my desktop PC up and running again, but as I am in my parents house I don’t really have room to set up my monitors, so I’ll still have to mix on headphones.
Anyway, what I’m looking to do is to get the first release, High Land completed by the end of September. It consists of a lot of unreleased material from February Album Writing Months over the past few years, along with some other interesting oddities dug out of the archives. It’ll be on Bandcamp, free of course, unless you feel like sending me money for some reason.
After High Land comes Low Land, which is more of that, but in slightly different musical colours. If High Land gets done before October, then Low Land will likely make it out in October.
So what exactly is the material on High Land going to sound like? Well if you would like a preview, here’s a playlist on Soundcloud of various instrumental works in progress that might make it in.
I know a lot of it is experimental and kind of abstract in nature, but the other important component of it will be spoken-word material. I’ve wanted to express a lot of personal ideas through words that I’ve kind of been nervous about for years. I’ve finally decided to take the plunge and hope there’s something to my self-indulgence. Maybe there’ll be some thoughts and ideas that you can relate to. Possibly not though, because as people continuously like to remind me I’m a weird person.
