
- Learned to snowboard and “conquered” (hah!) my first black diamond runs.
- Moved from the ass-end of Vancouver to the beautiful North Vancouver.
- Lots of sunsets on top of Mount Strachan.
- Saw lots of classic Studio Ghibli films at the Cinematheque.
- Met several incredibly inspirational people (and did not stay in contact with any of them because I am an idiot). Joy, Naomi, Peter, etc.
- Walked through the filming of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in between takes on the Capilano River in North Vancouver. Saw Andy Serkis being driven backwards down a hill in a white van wearing a suit covered in little motion capture balls.
- Wandered around the beautiful Bowen Island.
- Saw Secret Chiefs 3 twice in Seattle.
- Went to Portland, fell in love with Portland and all the beautiful people in Portland. Especially that girl who liked my t-shirt as she passed me at a bus stop on the Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway.
- Saw a free production of Star Trek’s Trouble With Tribbles in a Portland Park under a beautiful steel bridge.
- Sat with my feet in a lake in Whistler being nibbled by tiny fish for several hours.
- Took a five day train from Vancouver to Toronto which was nice for that brief stretch through the Rockies.
- Saw the sun set from the top of Mont Royal in Montréal.
- Slept in a jail and saw Martin for the first time in ten years in his home of Ottawa.
- Saw Murray and Katie and Family in Georgia again.
- Walked through a crazy cave system to a massive underground waterfall in Chattanooga.
- Ate really astonishingly nice burgers in Chattanooga.
- Learned to play Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride.
- Welcomed home for the first time in 13 months by our dog Alfie.
- Shaved my beard off for the first time in ten years, which was terrible but thankfully now I never have to do that again.
- Made it through several depressive spells.
