Excuses

Hey. So you remember how I was all like “yo, loads more content coming soon!” just recently? And did you notice that there hasn’t been all that much new content here?

It’s not because I’m lazy. Well, not just because I’m lazy.

There’s a bunch of nearly finished posts sitting in drafts, but I’ve been working 12 hour night shifts since the end of March, overtime, trips home and blah blah blah. Excuses, excuses, I know. The truth is, I just haven’t had the time.

The next major post is about feminism, one I’ve been working on for literally six months. Every time I do another pass on it, the internet explodes and I have to do another rewrite to incorporate it. This thing is fast approaching 4,000 words and no pictures.

I saw Avengers: Age of Ultron, and I’ve heard the Black Widow complaints. I think they’re hugely overblown, manufactured from wilful misunderstandings into bullshit controversy for internet outrage – because the internet doesn’t know how to have a discussion at any level between “this is the best thing that ever happened” and “fuck you, you should go drink bleach!”. And I say this as a staunch feminist and apologist for feminism, as this big post will explain in excruciating detail.

That being said, Jeremy Renner should probably stop making jokes about the primary female member of his movie franchise being a slut, considering she hasn’t actually had a single on-screen sexual relationship and Tony Stark has had about fifteen per movie. But that’s a separate issue caused by Jeremy Renner being casually misogynistic and not realising his dumb joke isn’t worth defending, let alone doubling down upon.

Watching cultural discourse on the internet in 2015 is, well, unpleasant. Taking part in it is worse.

The Islay Beefcast is having scheduling difficulties because its two participants are working overlapping night shifts in different timezones, and all momentum has almost certainly evaporated by now. Oh well. Nobody cares about that.

Anyway, that’s what’s up. Time makes fools of us all, me especially.
