I managed to not publish anything to this blog in 2017. That's an odd achievement that I'm not proud of. The truth is that within the past 12 months I've written literally thousands upon thousands of words that I didn't publish. There are many reasons, but primarily, I lost faith in the idea that my writing was really reaching out to anyone. Why publish something effectively no-one will read? In today's dissolving world, what use are my words? They're buried in noise, subsumed in an endless sea of arbitrary distractions. Okay, so that's not really a great way to start of a post about my favourite music from 2017. But a little context goes a long way, and on that front it's worth mentioning that in 2017, podcasts have squeezed music out of my everyday life. And I was catching up on a lot of music from 2016 (ATCQ, RTJ, De La, etc.) For those reasons, and others, I've opted to keep this list to six albums I enjoyed this year. No rankings - although Oxbow would take the top spot for sure. So join me, won't you?
Yeah I know, I'm five months behind on the travel reports. I'll get back to those shortly. In the meantime, here's something I'm sure you care about just as much - what I've been listening to over the month or so. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool Death Grips - Bottomless Pit John Grant - Pale Green … Continue reading Playlist (Jun 3rd 2016)

It is the end of Saturnalia for another year, so cease your gambling, take your Phrygian caps outside and burn them, and then get back to work slaves, for it is time for the best albums of 2013 AD. Last year I opted out of writing a top 10 album list which … Continue reading Best of 2013: Six Great Albums
Okay, so I love the National. No need to look at me like that. I know it's weird to like a band who play songs that you can legitimately call songs. I know it's pretty out there to like a band that puts out records of 11-13 tracks, each around 4 minutes in length, all … Continue reading The National – Trouble Will Find Me
So not all the music I enjoyed this year came out this year, and this list is a reflection of that. Here's some music from whenever, that I liked a lot this year, for the reasons stated here. Enjoy, or not, that's up to you. New Musical Discovery of the Year 2011 The National Thanks … Continue reading The Alternative Musical Awards of 2011 AD
Due to some circumstances that I shan't go into here, I've felt slightly melancholic and emotional lately. Just because of who and what I am, I tend to get caught up on little things that mostly only exist in my head and am unable to adequately express these things to others. At my work, I've … Continue reading Five Songs That Make Me Emotional
Albums I have enjoyed recently.
